Summer-Fall 2018 Arts Internship with Love the Bulb
Internship Dates: June 11 - December 31, 2018

Love the Bulb is a community arts organization that presents performance and participatory art projects at a public park known as the Albany Bulb, about 4 miles from the UC Berkeley campus. Love the Bulb is seeking an intern to help plan and execute a September dance festival and other events. Some work will take place at the park, other work can be done remotely. 5-10 hours per week. Position is unpaid but the organization will help the intern assemble a strategic portfolio of work that can help with future employment.
Duties include:
- Assisting with event publicity and management via Eventbrite, Mailchimp, social media, website updating, etc;
- Volunteer recruitment and management
- Conducting direct outreach to partner organizations, schools, the public;
- Assisting with stage management and on-site event management;
- Researching potential performers and partner organizations.
Required qualifications:
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Good writing skills and email and telephone etiquette;
- Good people/volunteer management skills;
- Comfortable learning online platforms such as Eventbrite, Mailchimp;
- Availability on about 2-3 weekend days per month;
- Willingness to work outdoors; physical energy;
- Ability to get to the Albany Bulb on an occasional basis independently by car, bike or public transit
- Interest in performing and visual arts and public space.
Desired qualifications
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign);
- Experience with video editing, videography, photography, photo library management;
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (about 20 pounds) over uneven terrain;
- Experience with event planning, social media promotion and project management;
- Sales, marketing, customer service experience;
- Experience with Squarespace, Wordpress, etc.
